Dhaka, May 19, 2026 — Southeast Bank PLC has inaugurated 10 new agent banking outlets under its branded service “Shagotom,” aiming to extend banking access to unbanked populations across rural and semi-urban regions of Bangladesh.
The newly launched outlets are located across Tangail, Manikganj, Narsingdi, Dhaka, Moulvibazar, Cumilla, and Feni, reinforcing the bank’s ongoing commitment to financial inclusion and broader access to formal banking services nationwide.
The formal inauguration was conducted virtually by Abidur Rahman Chowdhury, Additional Managing Director of Southeast Bank PLC. The event was attended by senior officials from the head office, heads of branches, and proprietors of the newly established agent banking outlets.
The “Shagotom” agent banking platform is designed to deliver a wide range of modern, technology-driven services, including both conventional and ‘Tijarah’ (Islamic) banking solutions. Through these outlets, customers can access essential banking services such as account opening (savings and current), cash deposits and withdrawals, fund transfers, and interbank transactions via BEFTN and RTGS.
In addition, customers will be able to receive foreign remittances, process cheque books and debit or credit cards, and open BO accounts for share transactions. The service also includes access to micro, medium, agricultural, and retail loans with insurance সুবিধা, along with utility bill payments, loan installment collections, and disbursement of government allowances.
To further enhance accessibility, Southeast Bank is also offering 24/7 banking support through Recycler ATMs, ensuring continuous service availability for customers in remote areas.
With this expansion, Southeast Bank PLC continues to strengthen its agent banking network and play a proactive role in driving financial inclusion, supporting economic participation, and delivering convenient banking solutions to underserved communities across Bangladesh.
