Dhaka, September 6, 2026:
Bangladesh’s electronics giant Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC has received the ESG Excellence Awards 2026 in three categories, recognising the company’s initiatives in occupational health and safety, climate action and sustainable product innovation.
The awards were presented at a ceremony held on Saturday (September 5) at The Lakeshore Hotel in Dhaka, jointly organised by the UN Global Compact Network Bangladesh (GCNB) and the ESG Institute Bangladesh.
Walton was recognised in the following three categories:
- Excellence in Occupational Health and Safety Improvement
- Excellence in Championing Climate Action
- Excellence in Sustainable Product Innovation
Md. Yusuf Ali, Additional Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries, received the award crest from Abdul Awal Mintoo, Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, at the ceremony.
Senior Walton executives, including Chief Marketing Officer Zoheb Ahmed, Senior Additional Executive Directors Rabiul Islam Milton and Md. Mostafizur Rahman, and Mostafizur Rahman Raju, Head of EHS & Sustainability, were also present.
Representatives from the European Union, GCNB, ESG Institute Bangladesh, and diplomatic missions including Denmark and Sweden attended the event.
Focus on sustainability and responsible manufacturing
Commenting on the recognition, Md. Yusuf Ali said the three awards reflect Walton’s continued efforts to integrate environmental, social and governance considerations into its business and manufacturing operations.
He said the recognition would further encourage Walton to invest in initiatives related to workplace safety, employee wellbeing, climate resilience and sustainable product development alongside business growth.
According to Walton, sustainability has increasingly become an integral part of its manufacturing strategy. The company said it has been adopting green technologies and environmentally responsible practices across its production facilities and workplaces, including the use of renewable energy and cleaner technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
The company has also introduced technology-driven safety systems and regular employee training programmes to strengthen occupational health and safety standards and reduce workplace risks.
In product development, Walton said it has been focusing on energy efficiency, green technologies and environmentally responsible materials as part of its approach to developing more sustainable electronics and appliances.
Recognition adds to Walton’s sustainability track record
The latest ESG recognition adds to a series of sustainability-related accolades received by Walton in 2026.
Earlier this year, the company received the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2026 in three categories, including recognition for sustainable electronics manufacturing, climate and environmental protection, and clean and energy-efficient initiatives.
The latest ESG Excellence Awards further highlight Walton’s efforts to align its manufacturing and product-development activities with broader sustainability objectives, as Bangladesh’s industrial sector faces growing expectations around environmental performance, workplace safety and responsible business practices.
