Chinese smartphone brand Honor has officially inaugurated its new AI-driven smartphone manufacturing facility at Kaliakair Hi-Tech Park in Gazipur, marking Bangladesh as its newest global production hub after China and Indonesia.
According to Honor, the factory begins operations with a single production line capable of manufacturing 1,500 smartphones per day. The company plans to expand rapidly, with four additional production lines expected within the next year to meet growing global and local demand.
All smartphones produced at the facility will carry the label “Made in Bangladesh”, highlighting the country’s rising technological capabilities and strengthening its position as an emerging player in global electronics manufacturing. Industry analysts say the investment signals increasing confidence from international brands in Bangladesh’s high-tech sector and export potential.
Officials noted that the new plant will not only boost local manufacturing but also create new opportunities for skilled employment, investment in advanced technology, and knowledge transfer in the country’s growing digital economy.
With Honor joining other global electronics brands already active in Bangladesh, the nation’s ambition to become a regional manufacturing hub continues to gain momentum.
