Dhaka, 3 November 2026: Prime Bank Investment PLC (PBIL) and Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen industry-academia collaboration, enhance students’ industry exposure and promote financial literacy and investment awareness.
The MoU was signed on Monday, 2 November 2026, at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room at the IUB campus. The agreement was signed by Professor M. Tamim, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor of IUB, and Mr. Syed M Omar Tayub, Managing Director and CEO of PBIL.
A key component of the collaboration is a structured one-day internship programme designed to give selected IUB students practical exposure to investment management, capital market operations and financial advisory services. The partnership will also facilitate financial literacy and investment awareness initiatives under PBIL’s PrimeInvest Youth: Invest for Tomorrow programme.
Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Syed M Omar Tayub, Managing Director and CEO of PBIL, said, “Through this partnership with IUB, we aim to connect academic learning with practical industry experience and help students develop a stronger understanding of investment, financial planning and the capital market.”
Professor M. Tamim, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor of IUB, said, “Meaningful industry-academia partnerships help students connect classroom learning with the realities of the professional world. This collaboration will create opportunities for our students to gain practical exposure to the investment industry while strengthening their financial awareness and professional development.”
Beyond student engagement and financial literacy, the MoU establishes a framework for both organizations to explore potential investment management and advisory services for the IUB community, including eligible faculty members, employees, students and alumni, subject to mutually agreed terms.
PBIL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Prime Bank PLC, provides investment banking, portfolio management, corporate advisory and issue management services. Through this partnership, PBIL and IUB seek to foster stronger links between higher education and the investment industry, helping students build the knowledge and practical understanding needed to navigate their financial futures.
