The Daily Corporate Desk
Dhaka, 1 September 2026: Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited has appointed Md. Mohsin Habib Chowdhury as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director, marking a new phase of leadership for one of the country’s leading paint and coatings companies.

Chowdhury formally assumed the position on 1 August 2026 for a five-year term. The appointment was approved by Berger’s board in April and subsequently confirmed by shareholders at the company’s 53rd Annual General Meeting.

The appointment brings a seasoned Berger executive to the company’s top leadership position. Chowdhury joined Berger Paints Bangladesh in 1995 and has spent more than three decades with the organisation, holding senior roles across sales, marketing and operations. Before becoming CEO and Managing Director, he served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Director.

His previous responsibilities included serving as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Senior General Manager–Sales & Marketing and General Manager–Sales & Marketing. His experience spans business development, marketing strategy, product development, market research and consumer insights.

A leadership transition built from within

Chowdhury’s appointment comes as Berger transitions from the long tenure of Rupali Haque Chowdhury, who had served as Managing Director since 2008. From August 2026, Rupali Haque Chowdhury moved into the roles of Executive Director for subsidiaries, Coordination Director for joint ventures and Non-Executive Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh.

The leadership transition retains significant institutional experience at the company while placing an executive with extensive operational and commercial experience at the helm.

Focus on innovation and sustainability

During his career at Berger, Mohsin Habib Chowdhury has been associated with the company’s efforts around product innovation, business diversification and sustainability. Berger has highlighted initiatives including lead-free and low-VOC paint solutions, sustainable manufacturing practices and technology-driven product development.

He has also been active at the industry level as President of the Bangladesh Paint Manufacturers Association (BPMA) for the 2025–26 term, where he has advocated for environmentally responsible paint products and greater competitiveness in the domestic coatings sector.

His leadership has received industry recognition as well. In 2024, he was named COO/Operations Director of the Year at the Bangladesh C-Suite Awards.

With Berger maintaining its position as a major player in Bangladesh’s paint and coatings market, Chowdhury’s new mandate comes at a time when the sector is increasingly shaped by product innovation, sustainability, construction demand and evolving consumer expectations.

The company’s latest AGM also approved a 525% cash dividend for 2025, underlining the financial significance of the business as the new CEO and Managing Director begins his five-year tenure.
