Dhaka, 24 July 2026: Pubali Bank PLC has decided to acquire the under-construction 26-storey Swiss Tower from Bengal Group of Industries for Tk 800 crore, marking one of the country’s largest recent commercial real estate transactions involving a financial institution.
The decision was disclosed through a price-sensitive information (PSI) notice approved by the bank’s Board of Directors on Wednesday.
Located at 208 Tejgaon-Gulshan Link Road in Dhaka, the commercial tower is currently under construction. The transaction, however, remains subject to approvals from Bangladesh Bank and other relevant regulatory authorities before it can be finalized.
According to sources familiar with the development, the property was originally being developed by Bengal Hotel & Resort, a concern of Bengal Group of Industries, as the future home of the five-star Swissôtel Dhaka.
Instead of proceeding with the hospitality project, the company has decided to transfer ownership of the building to Pubali Bank.
Once completed, the acquisition is expected to provide Pubali Bank with a significant corporate facility in one of Dhaka’s prime commercial locations, while also reflecting the bank’s long-term investment strategy in strategic real estate assets.
The deal is expected to be completed following the necessary regulatory clearances.
