Mostafa Zahed Hossain has been appointed as the Managing Director of Wärtsilä Bangladesh Ltd, marking a significant leadership transition for the global energy technology company’s Bangladesh operations. The appointment became effective from May 1, 2026.
In addition to his new role as Managing Director, Hossain will continue serving as Head of Operations, reflecting the company’s confidence in his operational leadership and long-standing contribution to Wärtsilä’s business in Bangladesh.
Hossain has built a long career with Wärtsilä, holding several important operational and service leadership roles over the years. His experience spans energy services, lifecycle solutions, maintenance management, and power plant operations, where he played a key role in supporting major power projects across Bangladesh.
Previously serving as General Manager for Service Sales and later leading Wärtsilä’s services operations in Bangladesh, Hossain contributed to strengthening the company’s local customer support capabilities and operational efficiency. He has also been actively involved in long-term lifecycle solution agreements and maintenance support projects for major power plants in the country.
Wärtsilä has been operating in Bangladesh since the 1990s and remains one of the key contributors to the country’s power generation sector. The company has supplied thousands of megawatts of installed power capacity and continues to support both public and private sector energy projects through technology, maintenance, and lifecycle services.
Industry observers believe Hossain’s appointment comes at a crucial time as Bangladesh continues to focus on strengthening energy reliability, operational efficiency, and sustainable power infrastructure to support long-term economic growth.
