Dhaka, September 15: Paxar Bangladesh Limited, a subsidiary of Avery Dennison, has launched an advanced smart warehouse at Dhaka Export Processing Zone (EPZ), introducing greater automation and digital efficiency to the supply chain supporting Bangladesh’s apparel and footwear industries.
The facility was inaugurated on Monday by Brent T. Christensen, US Ambassador to Bangladesh, according to a press release issued by the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA).
Located at Dhaka EPZ, the 830-square-metre automated warehouse has the capacity to store around 25,000 cartons at a time. The facility is designed to digitally manage the entire logistics process, from receiving and storing products to order bagging and delivery.
The new warehouse will primarily support the fast and efficient supply of labels, packaging materials and other products required by Bangladesh’s ready-made garment and footwear manufacturers.
The facility is part of Avery Dennison’s global Manufacturing 4.0 initiative, which focuses on integrating automation and digital technologies into manufacturing and supply-chain operations.
Speaking at the inauguration, US Ambassador Brent T. Christensen said that modernising technology and supply-chain systems is essential for strengthening Bangladesh’s industrial competitiveness. He noted that US companies are contributing to this process by bringing advanced technologies and expertise to the country.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain said investments by companies such as Avery Dennison are bringing not only capital but also modern technology and knowledge into Bangladesh’s industrial sector.
He added that greater adoption of automation could further strengthen the global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s apparel industry.
During the event, the BEPZA executive chairman also invited potential US investors to explore investment opportunities in the two new EPZs currently under development in Patuakhali and Jashore.
Senior officials from BEPZA, Dhaka EPZ, BGMEA and the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) attended the inauguration ceremony.
Paxar Bangladesh, a US-owned company, has been operating at Dhaka EPZ since 2003. The company has invested approximately US$81 million in Bangladesh to date and has created employment for around 1,500 people.
The launch of the smart warehouse marks another step towards greater automation and technology-driven supply-chain management within Bangladesh’s export-oriented manufacturing ecosystem.
