Dhaka: Midland Bank PLC has appointed Imtiaz U Ahmed as its new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), according to a press release issued by the bank.
Before joining Midland Bank, Ahmed held senior positions at Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC and Eastern Bank PLC, bringing extensive leadership experience from both branch operations and corporate head office management.
A seasoned banking professional with more than 25 years of experience in the financial services sector, Ahmed has developed strong expertise across corporate and institutional banking, export financing, treasury management, internal control and compliance, human resources, and special asset management.
Throughout his career, he has been recognised for driving business growth through performance-focused leadership and transformation initiatives, particularly in export financing, while strengthening portfolio quality and risk management practices.
Prior to entering the banking industry, Ahmed gained professional experience in the capital market at the Chittagong Stock Exchange and worked in the audit profession at KPMG Rahman Rahman Huq.
He completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance and accounting.
