S. M. Mainul Kabir has joined SBAC Bank PLC as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
Before assuming his new role at SBAC Bank, Mr Kabir served as Deputy Managing Director at United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB), where he played a key role in overseeing major banking operations and strategic initiatives.
With more than three decades of experience in the banking industry, Mr Kabir has held several senior leadership positions throughout his career, including Head of Credit, Chief Business Officer, Head of Credit Administration, and Head of Branch. He began his professional journey as a Probationary Officer at National Bank, gradually rising through the ranks across multiple leading financial institutions.
Over the years, Mr Kabir has worked with EXIM Bank PLC, Jamuna Bank PLC, Southeast Bank PLC, and Community Bank PLC, earning recognition for his professionalism, integrity, and effective leadership across diverse areas of banking operations.
In addition to his extensive professional experience, Mr Kabir has participated in numerous management development programmes, workshops, and seminars both at home and abroad. Academically, he completed his honours and master’s degrees in Finance and Banking from the University of Dhaka, and later earned an MBA from the Department of Management Studies, University of Dhaka, further strengthening his expertise in banking and management.
