Dhaka, 1 September 2026: ACI Formulations PLC has appointed A M M Golam Towhid as Deputy Managing Director, effective 1 September 2026, bringing a senior business leader with more than 26 years of domestic and international experience into the company’s leadership team.
The appointment was announced by ACI Crop Care, which said Towhid’s career spans telecommunications, consumer goods and agrochemicals, with leadership experience across both Bangladesh and international markets.
Mr. Towhid began his professional career with Grameenphone before moving to British American Tobacco Bangladesh, where he took on progressively senior leadership responsibilities. He later joined Airtel Bangladesh, further expanding his experience across the telecommunications and consumer-facing sectors.
His career subsequently moved into the agribusiness sector with Syngenta Bangladesh. In 2015, he joined the organisation as Head of Marketing and later rose to become Managing Director of Syngenta Bangladesh.
During his tenure as Managing Director, Towhid was involved in steering the company’s business and strategic direction. His leadership at Syngenta Bangladesh has been documented across several industry engagements, including the company’s annual employee conference, where he outlined its short- and long-term strategic priorities.
He also represented Syngenta Bangladesh in major business and industry engagements. In 2021, for instance, Mr. Towhid signed an agreement with Bank Asia aimed at expanding digital financial services and financing opportunities for farmers and retailers within Syngenta’s distribution ecosystem.
Following his Bangladesh leadership role, Mr. Towhid took on regional responsibilities within Syngenta Asia Pacific (APAC) in Singapore as Head of Strategy and Planning. In that capacity, he focused on customer-centric solutions, portfolio strategy and the evolution of business models across the region.
Most recently, he served as Chief Commercial Officer at Syngenta India, where he was involved in commercial strategy and business transformation. His role placed him within Syngenta India’s senior commercial leadership team.
A leadership transition with broader industry relevance
Mr. Towhid’s move to ACI Formulations comes with experience spanning multiple industries and markets, including telecommunications, consumer goods and agriculture. His career trajectory from functional and commercial roles to country-level and regional leadership positions reflects a progression built around business transformation, market development and strategic execution.
His experience in agribusiness is particularly relevant to ACI Formulations, whose business portfolio includes crop-care and agricultural solutions. The move also brings international exposure from his work across the wider Syngenta organisation into a major Bangladeshi business group.
ACI Crop Care, in its announcement, highlighted Mr. Towhid’s 26 years of experience and leadership roles at Grameenphone, British American Tobacco Bangladesh, Airtel Bangladesh and Syngenta.
With the appointment effective from September 1, Mr. Towhid is expected to contribute his cross-market commercial and strategic experience to ACI Formulations as the company continues to strengthen its position in Bangladesh’s agricultural and formulations sector.
