Dhaka, July 15, 2026: Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) has launched its first standalone IFRS S1 & S2 Disclosure, titled “Climate Catalyst for Resilience 2025,” marking a significant step in strengthening climate-related financial reporting and sustainable banking practices in Bangladesh.

The disclosure was officially unveiled on 13 July at the Samson H. Chowdhury Auditorium in MTB Tower. The event was attended by MTB Managing Director & CEO Syed Mahbubur Rahman, members of the bank’s senior management team, and distinguished representatives from Bangladesh Bank.

Following the launch, MTB organized a day-long training session on Sustainable Finance and Refinance Schemes, aimed at enhancing knowledge and capacity in climate finance. Senior officials from the Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank participated in the training as resource persons.

Speaking at the event, Syed Mahbubur Rahman said climate risk management has become a strategic priority for the banking industry. He noted that through the publication of the disclosure and the bank’s continued focus on sustainable finance, MTB remains committed to promoting responsible banking practices while supporting Bangladesh’s transition toward a greener, more resilient economy.

The standalone disclosure aligns with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) S1 and S2, which provide global guidelines for sustainability and climate-related financial disclosures. The initiative reflects MTB’s efforts to improve transparency, strengthen climate risk governance, and integrate sustainability into its long-term business strategy.

The bank said the launch reinforces its commitment to building a more transparent, resilient, and sustainable financial sector while contributing to Bangladesh’s broader climate and sustainable development goals.
