HSBC Bangladesh, in collaboration with Bangladesh Special Economic Zone (BSEZ), recently organized an investment-focused event titled “Unlocking Bangladesh Investment Horizons: A Spotlight on Bangladesh Special Economic Zone.”

The event brought together policymakers, diplomats, regulators, investors, business leaders, trade bodies, and representatives from both the public and private sectors to discuss Bangladesh’s evolving investment landscape and emerging economic opportunities.

Speakers at the programme highlighted the country’s infrastructure development, investment readiness, policy direction, and the growing role of special economic zones in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).

The session began with opening remarks by Takahashi Junko, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Bangladesh Office.

Md Mahbub ur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bangladesh, also addressed the audience, emphasizing Bangladesh’s growing importance as an investment destination in the region.

Chiharu Tagawa, Managing Director of Bangladesh SEZ Ltd, delivered a presentation titled “A Model Economic Zone: Showcasing BSEZ,” where she highlighted the zone’s strategic vision, infrastructure preparedness, and investment opportunities for global businesses.

The programme concluded with remarks from Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), as well as Chief Executive Officer of the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA).

Officials at the event said Bangladesh’s economic transformation, strategic location, competitive workforce, and expanding infrastructure continue to position the country as an increasingly attractive destination for international investors.

Industry insiders believe such engagements play an important role in strengthening investor confidence and promoting Bangladesh’s special economic zones as key drivers of industrialization, export growth, and long-term economic development.
