Dhaka, 30 June 2026: Mobile financial services provider bKash has entered into a partnership with Mastercard to enable faster, more secure and convenient inward remittance transfers for recipients across Bangladesh.
Under the collaboration, remittances sent through banks and authorized money transfer operators connected to Mastercard’s global payment network can be directly deposited into beneficiaries’ bKash accounts through Mastercard Move, the company’s money transfer platform.
The initiative is expected to enhance the remittance experience by reducing processing times and providing recipients with immediate access to funds. Once the money reaches a bKash account, users can withdraw cash from the company’s extensive nationwide agent network or utilize the funds for a range of digital financial services.
Recipients will also be able to use remitted funds for utility bill payments, mobile phone recharges, money transfers, merchant payments and savings-related services available through the bKash platform.
The partnership aims to make formal remittance channels more accessible and efficient for Bangladeshis working abroad and their families at home. By leveraging digital financial infrastructure, the two companies seek to improve the speed and security of cross-border money transfers while reducing dependence on informal channels.
According to the organizations, the collaboration aligns with Bangladesh Bank’s broader objective of encouraging the use of secure and regulated remittance channels. The initiative is also expected to contribute to greater financial inclusion by enabling more people to receive and manage international remittances through digital platforms.
Remittances remain a vital source of foreign exchange earnings for Bangladesh, supporting millions of households and contributing significantly to the national economy. The new partnership is expected to further strengthen the country’s digital financial ecosystem by providing a seamless and reliable remittance receiving experience for users nationwide.
