Ashikul Hasan Khan has been appointed as the Head of Internal Control and Compliance Division (ICCD) of The Premier Bank PLC, marking a significant leadership addition to the bank’s compliance and governance framework.
The appointment reflects the bank’s continued emphasis on strengthening internal governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance amid the evolving landscape of Bangladesh’s banking sector.
The ICCD plays a critical role within commercial banks, overseeing internal audits, compliance monitoring, risk assessments, fraud prevention, and adherence to guidelines issued by Bangladesh Bank. At Premier Bank, the division operates as a core oversight function responsible for ensuring safe, sound, and compliant banking operations across the institution.
Industry observers note that strengthening internal control and compliance functions has become increasingly important for banks in Bangladesh as regulators place greater focus on governance, anti-money laundering (AML), and operational transparency.
Founded in 1999, The Premier Bank PLC has expanded its nationwide network with more than 130 branches and a growing focus on digital banking, SME financing, and corporate governance initiatives.
The appointment of Ashikul Hasan Khan is expected to further support the bank’s efforts to reinforce compliance culture, improve operational oversight, and strengthen institutional governance standards in line with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
