An arrest warrant has been issued against Adnan Imtiaz Halim, Non-Executive Chairman of Seba XYZ, a local startup, following a case filed by a former company official.
The warrant was issued on February 18 by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Sefatullah of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Court-3 in connection with CR Case No. 362/26.
According to court sources, the case was filed by the company’s former Chief Operating Officer (COO), Ronald Miki Gomez. He alleged that during his tenure at Seba XYZ, copies of income tax deposit challans for deductions made from his salary were not provided to him. He fears that approximately BDT 1.82 million deducted as tax may not have been deposited into the state treasury. His total outstanding claim stands at around BDT 4.1 million.
Gomez stated that he joined the company as COO in June 2024. From July 2024 to July 2025, BDT 1,301,798 was deducted from his salary as income tax. He further alleged that after being pressured to resign in October last year, he continued working until December but did not receive any salary from August to December. Instead, an additional BDT 518,485 was deducted as tax during those five months.
He expressed concern that without receiving the official challan copies, he may be required to pay the deducted tax again while filing his income tax return. He fears the deducted amount may not have been deposited to the government treasury.
The court has instructed the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Police Station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police to execute the warrant, as the accused resides in the Mirpur DOHS area.
In addition to the criminal case, Gomez has filed a separate case in the Labour Court over five months of unpaid salary. He alleged that he has faced pressure to withdraw the case, with claims that his dues would not be cleared if he continues legal proceedings.
Responding to the matter, Adnan Imtiaz Halim said the issue concerns a dispute over outstanding dues with a former employee, arising from the company’s internal management and financial situation. He stated that the company respects the court and is cooperating fully with the legal process, expressing hope that the matter will be clarified through judicial proceedings.
