As part of its 33rd founding anniversary celebrations and ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, NCC Bank PLC, through the NCC Bank Foundation, organized a free eye treatment camp in collaboration with Bangladesh Eye Trust Hospital at Moulvi Shamsul Karim College in Chhagalnaiya, Feni.
The day-long medical camp was inaugurated by NCC Bank Chairman Md. Nurun Newaz Salim through a modest ceremony attended by senior bank officials, local dignitaries, and representatives of the healthcare partner.
Among those present at the event were NCC Bank Managing Director M. Shamsul Arefin, SVP and Head of SME & Agri Credit Division Sharif Mohammad Mahsin, SVP and Head of NCC Bank Foundation Khandaker Saiful Alam, and Acting Principal of Moulvi Shamsul Karim College Abdul Jalil.
During the camp, a total of 1,125 underprivileged patients received free eye check-ups, medicines, and spectacles. Patients identified for cataract surgery will also receive comprehensive support, including free transportation to and from Dhaka, accommodation, meals, surgery using phaco technology, post-operative medicines, and protective dark glasses.
In a virtual advisory speech delivered during the programme, Feni-1 constituency lawmaker Munshi Rafiqul Alam Maznu praised the initiative, stating that the programme would significantly benefit poor and helpless people in the district and help prevent avoidable blindness.
Speaking at the event, NCC Bank Chairman Md. Nurun Newaz Salim said the bank’s mission extends beyond profit-making and includes improving the quality of life for disadvantaged communities through healthcare, education, and other social development initiatives.
He also expressed appreciation to Bangladesh Eye Trust Hospital for partnering with the bank in implementing the programme and hoped such initiatives would continue in the future.
Managing Director M. Shamsul Arefin highlighted NCC Bank’s broader CSR activities across the country, including winter clothing distribution, food and agricultural support for ultra-poor communities, educational scholarships, environmental sustainability projects, and climate adaptation programmes for vulnerable populations in riverine areas.
He noted that the free eye treatment camp in Chhagalnaiya is part of the bank’s continued efforts to expand healthcare access for underserved communities and contribute to social well-being across Bangladesh.
