ONE Bank PLC has appointed Iftekhar Ahmed Zafar as its new Deputy Managing Director (DMD), marking a strategic leadership addition aimed at strengthening the bank’s transaction banking and investment banking operations.
In his new role, he will also serve as Chief Strategy Officer of the bank, where he is expected to contribute to long-term strategic planning and institutional growth initiatives.
Iftekhar Ahmed Zafar brings more than 23 years of banking experience across corporate and institutional banking, financial markets, transaction banking, and finance. Prior to joining ONE Bank PLC, he spent over two decades at Standard Chartered Bank, serving in senior leadership roles across Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates.
Throughout his career, he has developed strong expertise in structured products, derivatives, cash and trade services, financial risk management, and strategic business planning. In his most recent assignment, he was part of one of Bangladesh’s largest transaction banking franchises, where he played a key role in driving product innovation, enhancing digital banking connectivity, and delivering multi-currency solutions for clients.
Academically, he holds both BBA and MBA degrees from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka He has also completed executive education programs from globally recognized institutions, including Indian Institute of Management, INSEAD, and the Asian Institute of Technology.
The appointment is expected to further strengthen ONE Bank’s focus on innovation in transaction banking, digital transformation, and strategic financial services expansion in Bangladesh’s evolving banking landscape.
