The Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen, along with two commissioners, has officially resigned from their positions.
The resignation was formally submitted at 2:45pm today following a meeting with Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani. The development was confirmed to media by ACC Commissioner Mia Mohammad Ali Akbar Azizi.
According to a government source, authorities had informed the commission on Sunday that they were not interested in continuing to work with the commission led by Dr. Momen. The members were reportedly asked to submit their resignation letters to Bangabhaban within one to two days.
In response, the commission members submitted their resignation letters today to the Cabinet Division.
Under the ACC Act, the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission may resign at any time by citing personal reasons. The resignation must be submitted in writing to the President through the Cabinet Division, typically at least one month in advance. Such letters are usually forwarded through the Cabinet Secretary or the ACC Secretary, and the resignation becomes effective only after receiving presidential approval.
Further developments are awaited regarding the appointment of new leadership at the commission.
