bKash Limited and Trust Bank PLC have been honored with the “US-South Asia Digital Finance & Investment Excellence Award 2026,” marking a notable achievement for Bangladesh’s financial services sector on the global stage.
The recognition was conferred at a two-day international conference on investment and digital finance held in Washington, D.C., organized by the US-based non-profit In Search of Root Foundation (ISORF). The awards celebrate excellence in advancing international trade, investment, and digital financial services.
Kamal Quadir, Founder of bKash, and Major General Md. Hakimuzzaman, Vice Chairman of Trust Bank, received the honors on behalf of their respective institutions. Other recipients included global entities such as Mastercard (USA), the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce (USA), and the Bank of Punjab (Pakistan), alongside special recognition for former US Ambassador Osman Siddique.
Industry observers note that the recognition underscores Bangladesh’s growing presence in the global digital finance ecosystem, driven by innovation in mobile financial services and institutional banking.
The conference also spotlighted Bangladesh as an increasingly attractive and stable investment destination. Md. Sarwar Hossain, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, highlighted the country’s economic resilience, pointing to stable exchange rates and strong remittance inflows. Meanwhile, Hussain M Elius, Founder of Pathao, emphasized that Bangladesh’s rapidly developing digital infrastructure is making it a more accessible and competitive market compared to regional peers.
