Dhaka, 26 February 2026 – Md Mostaqur Rahman has officially assumed office as the 14th Governor of Bangladesh Bank, bringing over three decades of experience in finance, governance, and corporate leadership.
A qualified Cost and Management Accountant (CMA), Md Mostaqur Rahman has an extensive background in corporate finance, export economics, institutional governance, and banking systems management. His expertise spans financial oversight, regulatory compliance, capital management, and banking-sector engagement.
Before his appointment, he held prominent roles including Chairman of the BGMEA Standing Committee on Bangladesh Bank and membership in the Chittagong Stock Exchange Ltd. He has also actively contributed to major trade and business associations such as BGMEA, REHAB (Real Estate and Housing Associations of Bangladesh), ATAB (Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh), and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI).
Md Mostaqur Rahman’s leadership extends across multiple sectors, including manufacturing, real estate, agro-based enterprises, and industrial ventures. He has played a key role in financial planning, investment oversight, and governance frameworks, promoting financial stability and economic sustainability through structured dialogues with trade and industry associations.
Born in 1966 into a respected Muslim family, he completed his B.Com (Hons.) and Master’s in Accounting from the University of Dhaka before qualifying as a CMA from the Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB). Beyond his professional accomplishments, he remains active in charitable and community development initiatives.
