Robi Axiata PLC. has reported a strong financial performance for the first quarter of 2026, posting an 85.2% year-on-year increase in profit, driven by robust data revenue growth, AI-powered personalised customer offers, and disciplined cost management.
According to the company’s unaudited financial results released on May 7, Robi’s profit after tax (PAT) reached Tk232.3 crore in the January–March quarter, up from Tk125 crore in the same period last year. Earnings per share (EPS) also rose sharply to Tk0.44 from Tk0.24 a year earlier.
The country’s second-largest mobile network operator recorded quarterly revenue of Tk2,531.2 crore, marking an 8.1% year-on-year growth, supported mainly by rising data consumption and expansion of its 4G user base. EBITDA stood at Tk1,350.3 crore with a healthy margin of 53.3%, reflecting improved operational efficiency.
Robi ended the quarter with 5.74 crore active subscribers, including 4.45 crore data users and 4.03 crore 4G subscribers, highlighting the growing demand for mobile internet services across Bangladesh.
Commenting on the results, Ziad Shatara said the company achieved strong growth despite challenging socio-economic conditions and global economic uncertainties.
“This clearly shows that our AI-driven personalized product and service offers, supported by sustained investment in network improvement, are producing the desired result,” he said in a company statement.
He also noted that Robi’s disciplined approach to cost management and investment planning helped the company deliver healthy returns to shareholders during the quarter. The operator expects the improving economic environment to further support business momentum in the coming months.
The latest quarterly performance comes after Robi posted its highest-ever annual profit in 2025, when the telecom operator earned Tk937 crore in net profit, marking its sixth consecutive year of profitability. The company had attributed that growth to disciplined capital allocation and strong data revenue expansion.
