Dhaka — Southeast Bank PLC has introduced Google Pay support for its Visa cardholders in Bangladesh, enabling secure and contactless payments through Android smartphones.
With this new feature, customers can add their Visa cards to Google Wallet and make payments at NFC-enabled terminals without the need to physically use their cards. The service is expected to enhance everyday transaction convenience, particularly in retail and on-the-go payment scenarios.
The bank said the integration leverages tokenisation technology, ensuring that actual card details are not shared during transactions. This significantly improves payment security while maintaining speed and ease of use for customers.
Industry insiders note that the move reflects the ongoing digital transformation in Bangladesh’s banking sector, where financial institutions are increasingly adopting global payment technologies to meet evolving consumer expectations.
The introduction of Google Pay support positions Southeast Bank among the early adopters of advanced contactless payment solutions in the country, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and customer-centric banking services.
